The real Mexican celebration is now in September, not Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) as it is mistakenly known in the US.
September 16th is the real patriotic holiday commemorating Mexico's independence from Spain and the birth of a new country. We celebrate “dando el grito” (showting) ¡Viva Mexico! as it was first done by the independence fighters.
